Yesterday was my criminology mid-term that was super boring. But straight after that we watched a documentary called “Damage Done: The Drug War Odyssey” that was quite interesting. So pretty much it talks about the idea of legalising drugs. All drugs. So not just marijuana, but more hardcore ones too.
For me, personally, drugs are one of the big no-no’s of my life, and so the idea of legalising them (with the connontations of thus accepting them as a normal part of society) was a bit of a stretch for me. It’s not like after watching the documentary I’m now an avid supporter of drugs and for the legalisation of them, but I guess I am now more informed about why they possible should be legalised. I guess I’m also warming to the idea of taking the drugs out of the hands of the drug barons and gangs and into the hands of the government or corporations… and then taxing the hell out of them.
Anyway, that’s just something interesting to think about.
On another note, last night I also went to the Pit, which is pretty much a bar with a dancefloor. Wednesday nights at UBC is “Pit night” so a few of us went and it was loooooots of fun. LOTS of fun. But OH MY GOODNESS.. the girls there couldn’t dance. Actually the boys were pretty terrible too, but it was funny watching them. Especially this one girl that was gyrating anything that moved. Oh and the 27 year old that would leave Jols alone and thought I looked strikingly similar to his ex-girlfriend. That was fun too haha.
